4 Superstar Supplements To Boost Your Metabolism
First and foremost, you cannot supplement away a bad diet. Taking a pill will not magically drop you a dress size. Nevertheless, supplements can be very helpful, downright miraculous, when combined with a thermogenic diet and metabolic exercise.

While you do need fat in your diet, the kind you consume can make or break your weight loss. Some fats burn easier as fuel compared to others. Bad fats, like trans fats, raise cholesterol and increase your risk of heart disease. Not to mention, they make your pants too tight! The saturated fats found in red meat, butter, cheese and peanut butter won't help you lose that muffin top. But a good fat, like Omega 3 found in salmon, will.

Decide, Dream and Get Going: Janine's Story
I'd love to introduce you to Janine; a very special lady who overcame just about every obstacle imaginable to lose 85 pounds. Today, she is happier and more fit than she could have ever imagined. ____________________________________________________________________"When I look at my picture and life before Lisa Lynn and LynFit I know the pain behind the eyes and the facade of a smile. That smile - you know it - the one we learn to put on, hiding behind it, and hoping others will not see the pain we keep inside. I was trapped in the labyrinth of wrongful thoughts about myself, letting life's abuses and hurts define me.
I had spent most of my life as a prisoner to those abuses and hurts, while at the same time keeping my own secrets well hidden. I was full of anger, self-loathing, condemnation and absolutely no self-esteem whatsoever. I was living my own "Groundhog Day". Every day a rerun of; "you'll never amount to anything", "never be good enough", "you can't do it" and "who do you think you are?" Even more disturbing; knowing that as a Christian I should believe I am accepted as God's own, made in His own image. But I had worked myself into the belief that I was not good enough with a list of self-imposed standards. Acceptance was not on my mind.
Unfortunately, obesity and my mindset were not my only issue. I suffered from a long list of conditions and ailments; resulting in limitations and having to pace myself in doing ordinarily simple daily household tasks. When I reached out to Lisa in an email I was at a point where I had lost all hope and my personal strength and courage was reserved for just getting out of bed. Lisa said, "Don't worry; all you have to do is decide". That day, that single day in so many days of utter hopelessness, I decided! Lisa spent time with me making changes to the food journals I would send her. In no time my stuck metabolism was moving. Finally, I found a sense of hope for my weight loss.
But, as everyday normal life would have it, I was still sabotaging myself, and though I was down 30 pounds, I hit rock bottom, on the inside. I was continuing that same old pattern of turning to food to give myself 20 seconds of comfort. Those 20 seconds would lead to a limitless amount of guilt and a feeling of worthlessness. But it's who we are on the inside that eventually makes its way outward into our external existence. Like an addiction that comes back after a period of being clean, I would be in worse shape than I was initially. I again reached out to Lisa for help. This time, to work on me from "the inside out".
A cheerleader, mentor, mother, sister, listener and most importantly; a mender. All of those apply to Lisa. She proved to me that I was worth it!
My life today is very different than what I described in the first couple of paragraphs. I have now lost 85 pounds; have a new hope, exuberant joy, and the peace that only a mended soul can bring. I am gluten-free, continue to eat right, work out almost every day between cardio, and lift weights.
Here are a few pointers that have helped me in my journey. They just may help you as well:
- Journal everything you eat. As Lisa says, "if you bite it, write it". This is extremely important if you're someone like me who eats her feelings. If you don't journal your bad eating moments then you'll never learn where or when your triggers are. And, I've learned from experience, if you reach out to Lisa for help the first thing she will ask you to do is to journal your food - no excuses.
- Have veggies out while cooking dinner. I learned that I was sampling much of the meal while preparing it and then turned right around and would eat a full meal. If you're going to snack while preparing a meal let it be on veggies instead.
- Prepare everything ahead of time (as much as possible). Have bags of veggies ready to grab every time you leave the house, even if you don't think you'll need them. You always drive by places that tempt you. Grab some veggies instead.
- Set out a container with the proper amount of water to consume for the day. It will constantly remind you. Also, have decaf green tea and lemons around for those times when you're getting bored and the hunger bug starts gnawing.
- Move every day no matter how you think and feel. Your body doesn't get a vote - it's not a democracy. I struggle with this but manage to do it anyway.
- Ask for help! Throw away the notion that you can do this by yourself or have the willpower within yourself - you don't! I had to learn that God was bigger than a bag of potato chips, block of cheese, latte, or whatever whim I was on that particular day. I couldn't learn that on my own. I had to reach out to others to help lead me through it.
- Talk with your family. I had to talk with my family, asking them to keep their comments positive. I had many aspects of my life to deal with and over time when the "high" of being on a program faded I needed all the family support I could get. You may find this the hardest part of your new lifestyle, especially after the initial thrust of your program. Let your support system help you deal with the natural emotions that occur or they may keep you from obtaining your ultimate success.

- Destroy fat with a fat-blasting breakfast after you work out. After your workout swap out your carb-filled breakfast with a LynFit Complete Protein or Advanced Complete Protein Shake. Something else to keep in mind: A lot of the calories burned from drinking water come from your body working to bring cold water to 98.6 degrees. So drinking hot water with lemon or hot tea all the time won't be as good at boosting your metabolism as drinking cold water will. Aim for ½ your body weight in ounces daily and take that a step further by drinking ½ of that by noon.
Example: If you weigh 120 pounds you need 60 ounces of water daily. You should aim to drink 30 of those ounces by noon.
- Skip your mid-morning snack. It's okay to be hungry. In fact, it's necessary when you're trying to lose weight. Most of the time we eat out of habit and we really don't need the excess calories. Wait until lunch and always remember you need to keep 3 hours between meals for fast fat loss. Skipping your morning snack is easier than you think and will push your body into fat-burning mode fast

And what is that one thing you can do every day to guarantee weight loss? It's making sure that you drink a protein shake (or eat a LynFit Lean Bar) to ensure that your body gets the exact amount of lean protein it needs to boost metabolism.

By now you know that protein is critical for weight loss. But it's also just as important for your overall health. Ask any doctor, nutritionist or trainer. He or she will likely tout protein's benefits for preserving lean muscle as well as its recovery and immunity boosting properties. When it comes to boosting your metabolism and ridding that "hard to lose" belly fat, not all proteins are created equal.
Protein is a macro-nutrient that supplies 20 different amino acids for the human body. Amino acids are necessary and essential building blocks that are used to:
- Enhance metabolism
- Preserve lean muscle tissue, help heal and repair muscles and tissue
- Make hemoglobin, which carries oxygen to cells
- Form antibodies that fight infection and disease
- Produce hormones and enzymes that regulate body processes

How much protein do I really need?
Determining your protein requirements is easy. While trying to lose weight, plan on consuming 1g of lean protein for each pound of lean muscle. If you want to weigh 120 pounds you only need to consume 120g of protein even though you may currently weigh 155 pounds. That is what makes stored body fat flee and in turn, you lose weight.
When is the best time to have a protein shake?
The best time to drink a Complete Protein Shake is within 60 minutes of waking to stop cortisol (the stress hormone) from rising and to jump-start your metabolism so you burn more calories all day long. The second most important time is right after your workout to replenish lost nutrients. Actually, anytime is a good time if it walks you away from "not so healthy" foods that stop you from losing weight.
Speaking of workouts. Just because you worked out doesn't necessarily mean you need to eat. You should only eat or drink a shake if you're due for a meal (has it been 3 hours?). If not, wait until your next meal time and then make that meal a protein drink. Personally, I like to work out first thing in the morning and have my shake immediately after so both of my goals are met in one shake without overeating.
How should I make my shakes?
I think LynFit shakes taste great the way they are, mixed with ½ cup of water and 5 ice cubes. Some people like to add Vanilla Shake to their coffee instead of using milk. Feel free to experiment. Just be sure that you don't add any type of milk. Milk is for gaining weight, not losing weight.
Also, if you add fruit to you shake remember that a ½ cup of fruit is your total fruit serving for the entire day as you're trying to lower your blood sugar and burn fat. Fruit elevates blood sugar and if you've been adding it to your shakes freely that might be one reason why you can't get the scales to budge.
On a cheat day I add ½ of a frozen banana to my shake with (1) tsp of PB2 Chocolate instead of peanut butter. It's a real treat and it satisfies me to the point that I don't look for junk food. First, probiotics are delicate. Heat and stomach acid can kill them, rendering them ineffective before they've even been digested. Also, those who don't eat dairy foods for taste or dietary reasons may find ingesting adequate amounts of probiotics difficult, if not impossible. You would need to overeat on yogurt in order to obtain the amount of probiotics needed to experience change.
Prebiotics (lsomalto-oligosaccarudes/inulin) is a specialized plant fiber that beneficially nourishes the good bacteria already in the large bowel or colon. The body itself does not digest these plant fibers; instead, the fibers act as a fertilizer to promote the growth of many of the good bacteria in the gut. These, in turn, provide many digestive and general health benefits. Prebiotics such as oligofructose enriched inulin (found in LynFit Lean Bars) can change a colon makeup from bad to good, which is favorable when you're trying to lose weight and kill cravings.
