Natural Ways To Boost Immunity & Avoid The Flu
Share
Each of us has germs that cause disease lurking all over our body, including the deadly flu virus, and even cancer cells. When our immune system is strong and working efficiently, it fights these diseases off and keeps us healthy. But when our immune system becomes weakened these diseases overpower our body and we become sick.
We all know that we need to wash our hands and reduce stress, but there are some easy, natural ways to keep the body healthy every day and strengthen the immune system so they can fight off the onslaught of diseases the body is bombarded with daily. Where to start? The best place to start is with your diet!
Once again, your diet is responsible for 80-90 percent of your health and weight loss. While supplements help immensely, you can’t supplement away a poor diet. Supplements do help create the right environment for your body to drop pounds and melt fat, which is why it’s the #1 priority.
Reducing your weight to an acceptable level removes the stress and pressure from your body. The fewer burdens you have physically, the stronger your immune system is and the better it can protect you. Make sure your diet is low fat, low-carb, which is the best, healthiest way you can possibly eat.
Having a strong immune system requires a well-balanced diet, one that’s low in sugar and saturated fats. If you're following one of the new trends of Paleo® and Keto®, you’ll still want to pay attention to the 20 grams of fat rule. Provide the right nutrients in the exact amounts your body needs. No more or less for the least amount of stress on your body. Stress will weaken your immune system quickly.
Since your immune system is made up of proteins and heavily relies on new protein synthesis to function optimally, it’s no surprise that getting too little protein in your diet can weaken your immune system. Forty percent of people over the age of 50 are deficient in protein.
Sadly, just because you eat meat for dinner doesn’t mean you're okay. In fact, most of the protein you eat isn't assimilated, so your body doesn’t get what it needs. That's why doctors are always pushing those canned protein drinks, but buyer beware! Those drinks are sugar water and not a good source of protein. All you get is a stomach ache and escalated blood sugar levels.
The solution is to go for the best source of protein that the most easily digested and used by the body. The easiest way to do that is to enjoy a LynFit Complete Protein Shake each day. A shake-a-day keeps colds and flu away!
One of my favorite ways to enjoy Complete Protein is with Copper Moon Coffee. Copper Moon Coffee contains probiotics and is so delicious even when you drink it black that you won’t need to add milk or creamer that prevents you from losing weight and weakening your immunity. I call it an Immune Boosting Clean Cappuccino.
- (1 packet) Colombian or French Vanilla Copper Moon Probiotic coffee, dissolved in ½-1 cup of hot water (per label directions)
- (1½ scoops) Complete Protein dissolved in ½ cup of water and shaken until frothy (the Complete Protein Advanced froths better than regular Complete Protein)
- Spoon on top of your coffee, sprinkle a little stevia and cinnamon on top, and Mangia!
I love probiotic coffee. It's delicious and creamy, so you don’t have to add that creamy, sugary, soybean oil stuff that kills intestinal flora to it. You'll never want to miss this again it’s so addicting!
Feed Your Flora
Forty percent of your immunity happens in your gut, so reach for easy ways to get your gut flora in shape. I make sure to get protein-rich foods throughout the day, especially fish and eggs, in addition to Complete Whey Protein.
Why does your immune system need proteins? Your body uses the amino acids found in dietary proteins to help build proteins within your body, including proteins that help make up your immune system.
Whey protein has the highest PER rating, meaning it’s the highest in usable amino acids and has the most of them in the most usable form, so the body uses them more efficiently. For example, immunoglobulins (also called antibodies) are proteins that circulate in your blood and make up key components of a strong immune system.
Proteins are also part of interferon antibodies and complement proteins that support immune system cells and attack viruses, bacteria, or other foreign substances in your body.
Other Important Essential Nutrients
In addition to protein deficiency, other nutrient deficiencies may also weaken your immune system. For example, Harvard Health Publications reports that being deficient in zinc, selenium, copper, iron, folic acid, and vitamins E, C, B-6, and A may alter and weaken your immune function. The best way to guarantee that your body gets what it needs is to take Daily Power Shot multivitamin, mineral supplement daily. Stress, weight loss, and other health issues prevent you from getting what you need consistently, which can weaken your immunity and set you up for sickness. Daily Power Shot provides that extra protection.
Daily Power Shot Power contains over 90 essential vitamins and minerals that protect your health. Most store-bought brands do not contain minerals, and since your body can’t make minerals on its own, taking them in supplement form is critical for the health of your immune system.
You'd have to juice over 30 pounds of produce to match the nutrition in one shot of Power Shot. Most of us don't get the recommended nine servings of whole fruits and vegetables daily, so a shot a day of Daily Power Shot allows you to nourish your body without all the sugar that juicing contains. And, it provides natural energy fast.
Zinc up! One ounce of Daily Power Shot contains the perfect amount of zinc to fight off that scratchy throat that feels like you might be getting a cold. When you feel a cold coming on, double up on your shots for a few days. It can relieve symptoms and get you better faster.
Double Up On Sleep
For the sleep-deprived, the best strategy is to double up on trying to get enough sleep, even if it's just a power nap with your feet up to rest your heart. Research shows our body needs at least seven to eight hours of sleep in order to stimulate an immune response from our natural killer cells, which attack viruses. Sleep is the most reliable defense against infection.
Need help falling asleep? LynFit Lean Sleep comes to the rescue. It won’t weaken your immune system the way over-the-counter sleep aids can. In fact, while over-the-counter sleep aids slow metabolism, Lean Sleep enhances it and melatonin is a natural antioxidant with anti-aging properties. Melatonin boosts immunity, reduces cancer risk, and you get a good nights sleep.
Don't Just Sip Tea... Gargle With It Too
I drink hot black or green tea with lemon and add a dash of LynFit Thyro-Boost if I really feel like I'm getting something serious. Drinking the tea and breathing in steam stimulates the cilia—the hair follicles in the nose—to move out germs more efficiently. Lemon thins mucus, and Thyro-Boost is antibacterial and great for immune-boosting.
Do Sweat It
This is one time you should sweat it. Bundle yourself up from head to toe with a turtleneck, warm, thick sweats and socks, and drink hot fluids to help simulate a fever, which will help boost immunity. Sweating also helps get all the toxins and germs out.
Rinse Your Nose Clean
A daily nasal rinse using a bulb syringe, or simply sniffing water when you’re in the shower, will help flush out viruses and help clear secretions. You can buy nasal saline irrigation at the drugstore, or make your own:
- Mix (3 teaspoons) iodide-free salt and (1 teaspoon baking soda)
- Add (1 teaspoon) of this mixture to (1 cup) of distilled or cooled boiled water.
I'll warn you, it's not pleasant, but you’ll feel better right away.
Just Breathe Out
I do this when I'm walking past another person if they are sneezing or coughing, I gently and slowly breathe out until I'm beyond the 6-10-foot zone around them. This keeps me from inhaling the air they just contaminated.
Don't Forget The Gym
Gyms are crawling with sweaty towels, dirty sneakers, and other germy grossness. Instead of sitting directly on a mat or bench, I'll place a clean towel on it first. Any equipment that I have to touch (like free weights or bicycle handlebars) I'll clean first with antibacterial wipes.
With four different strains of this awful flu going around, you cant be too safe!
Protect yourself and your loved ones, and remember... PREVENTION IS THE BEST CURE!
