Signs Your Thyroid Isn't Working Right

I receive questions daily about thyroid health and issues. As someone who has autoimmune thyroid issues, I know far too well the challenges they can present. Today, I'm going to answer some specific questions that have come in over the past couple of days, and I encourage you to send yours in as well (Support@LynFit.com). I'd love to be able to help you through your challenges and get you on the road to meeting your health goals!
QUESTION: I heard you say on an Instagram post that stress can have a negative effect on seemingly healthy thyroids. Since COVD-19, I've been struggling more than ever to lose weight and I’m exhausted all the time but can't sleep when I lie down at night. Now I can’t button my pants because my weight seems to be all in my stomach and it's making me very cranky. Help! What can I do?
ANSWER: Welcome to the low, sluggish thyroid club. It's easier to address and possible to burn off that belly fat once you accept that what you used to do to lose weight and improve health will no longer work due to the changes a low functioning thyroid imposes on your body. Stress amplifies these issues even more, making it imperative to do things differently.
The good news is there is more hope than you think, and it doesn't include
devoting your life to expensive endocrinologists who simply read a blood test result back to you and most of the time say your thyroid is fine -- it’s menopause or middle age issues. You need to eat specifically for your hypothyroid body type, and NO, you won't need to work out more.
I've been exactly where you are, and I know how frustrating it can be. I heard it all: eat less, eat healthier, work out more -- none of which worked. This is exactly why I do what I do every day to help others who are also struggling with thyroid autoimmune issues. For the record, I’m not a doctor, and not all thyroid cases are alike. But most thyroid cases go undiagnosed and are left untreated while we suffer every day of our life with symptoms like:
- Depression
- Weight gain
- Fatigue (can sleep all day but can't sleep at night)
- Sleep issues
- Moodiness
- Brain fog
- Hunger and cravings (more intense than usual)
- Constipation/unpredictable bowels (a sure sign your digestion isn't working up to speed)
- Hair loss/thinning hair/baldness (hair loss is also caused by thyroid medications)
- Slow hair growth
- Thin eyebrows (if the outer end of your eye brow is bald it's also a telltale sign)
- Dry, itchy, wrinkly skin
- Brittle nails that are slow to grow
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Blood sugar issues (erratic)
- Cold all the time when others are hot
- More pronounced menopause symptoms
- Heart issues, irrational pulse/fluttering feeling
- Enlarged heart
- Fatty liver
- Menstrual irregularities/difficulties
- Allergies
- Weak immunity
Another sign that your thyroid isn’t working properly is chronic aches (soft tissue, muscles, and bone/joint), and also those unexplained twinges and tingles you get sometimes out of nowhere for no good reason.
I'm not talking about the kind of pain you get when you do too much in the gym, yard work, or you bang your hand, and it hurts. I’m talking about fibromyalgia or nerve pain kind of mysterious aches and pains that can cause tingling or numbness. Also, actual pain in your arms, legs, feet, and hands that could all be a sign your thyroid needs a healthy boost. It could also be a sign that your thyroid is out of balance either way.
Most people are aware of the effects that stress has on health because you feel awful, but what most don't likely realize is that the thyroid is our master gland that controls every single aspect of our health. Having too little thyroid hormone can damage the nerves that are responsible for sending signals to your brain and spinal cord, throughout your entire body, and every single organ, most notably your heart. Any of these symptoms could be a sign that your thyroid is not working up to par.
Over time, if your body continues to produce too little thyroid hormone, damage can occur. And if left alone untreated, it gets worse and worse.
QUESTION: Isn't thyroid medication the answer?
ANSWER: No! Thyroids/hypothyroidism can't be cured, and medication only treats the symptoms and does not address the underlying issues, which is proper nourishment, specifically geared for your thyroid to keep it working optimally and prevent slowdown.
You need more nutrients when you're stressed, over-exercise, take medication for your thyroid, or other conditions.
I don't mean to disrespect the good endocrinologists and doctors who know their patients and have extra nutrition education (most have one day or less of nutrition education). They treat their patients the way they would want to be treated. Sadly, in their defense, our health care system is broken, and they don't have the time to really research their patients' issues, including their history to see if there is an issue that needs to be addressed that show up as “change” versus only looking to see if it's in range. And that's why blood tests can miss thyroid slowdown if they are within range, versus noticing that your thyroid has changed, which is the key factor when it comes to your thyroid health.
I like holistic doctors because they treat the patient, and if you're not feeling well they don't rely on a blood test to determine whether or not something should be done to address your concerns.
Just because your blood tests don't show it doesn't mean it's not causing you to gain weight and make it harder to lose weight. If you have any of these issues and have spent your hard-earned money and what little time you have waiting at the doctor's office, only to be told it's all in your head and your thyroid is fine, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Please don't misunderstand; I’m not saying don't listen to your doctor. We all need a health care advocate. But I am saying that no one knows your body better than you. If your thyroid's not working normally, and you don't feel like yourself, you may not lose weight or get the relief you need until you provide your thyroid with the nutrients it needs This is especially true if your doctor has you on a full list of medications that actually make things worse, which is why it's crucial that YOU supply your thyroid body type with enough of the specific nutrients it needs.
And note, it should be in a liquid form (that's why our Thyro-Boost is in liquid form) as lack of nutrient absorption accompanies hypothyroid issues, and decline as you age, starting at age 30.
To add insult to injury, there are some not so obvious things we all use that can also effect our thyroids:
- Teas that help you sleep, cleanse, detox, or make all kinds of promises (fyi: tannins in most teas affect nutrient absorption, specifically the nutrients your thyroid likes)
- Over-the-counter sleep aids like Nyquil, Tylenol PM, herbal, CBD with THC, and other natural remedies (medical or not, it's not good and will stop weight loss). This can also include nighttime sleep aids that are mixed blends of all sorts of things, most of which inhibit and slow thyroid function. That's why we use CBD without THC that's pure and free of heavy metals. And, we don’t mix anything with our Lean Sleep, which is pure melatonin.
Did you know that any over the counter or prescribed medication can slow your weight loss and affect thyroid health? That's why all of our nutritional products are specifically designed with optimal thyroid health in mind. We know how critical it is to your health starting with weight loss. Each one goes through a test, starting with me taking it to see if it does what research says it does. I see, feel, and experience the benefits you and I take it for... the best possible results!
QUESTION: What about collagen? Is it okay to use if I’m hypothyroid or need to lose weight?
ANSWER: Today's skin, hair, and nail obsession has launched a “Collagen Craze” that can be blamed on dysfunctional thyroids caused by lack or excessive nutrients (like juicing kale). What most people don't know is that most collagens were originally designed to provide extra calories for weight gain and to prevent weight loss versus enhancing weight loss and improving skin, hair, and nail health. The reason being that our hypothyroid bodies cannot digest or assimilate this sticky, glue-like collagen substance. It clogs up your bodies even further, making you feel more bloated than ever unless you're using our Daily Repair Liquid Collagen that has a 98% absorption rate.
Out of anxiety and fear, most of us run to the health food store and grab vegan proteins or green drinks thinking they are good for us. Many of them contain ingredients derived from kale or other goitrogenic vegetables like broccoli and spinach (see goitrogenic list on the Metabolic Plan) that interfere with normal thyroid function, making it more difficult for your thyroid to produce the hormones it needs for normal life metabolic function.
I’m not saying broccoli or kale is bad, so if you like them. keep eating them. But I am saying that if you're eating the same veggies every day and they are thyroid inhibitors, you may be affecting your thyroid health and slowing it down. Your weight gain will be a sign that something is out-of-balance.
Today's world of juicing, green smoothies, green drinks, and vegan protein sources are contributing to our thyroid dilemma. Almost every doctor is seeing more and more every day, especially since COVD hit and stress began to slam dunk our thyroids, turning them from a healthy master gland to a mysterious weight gain issue.
It can be easily remedied, and like every other healthy improvement, begins with eating right for your thyroid body type, sometimes cleaning up your eating habits a bit more than we would like to think we need to. We also need to make healthier lifestyle choices like consciously reducing stress and incorporating more sleep for recovery time to improve thyroid function. We also need to incorporate the smart use of safe nutritional supplements used strategically to help improve thyroid function and make it easier for you to lose weight.
The BOTTOM LINE: If you've tried every diet type and tried working out, but no matter what you do you just can't seem to shed that extra belly fat or lose weight, and you feel so tired you don't look forward to the things you love doing anymore, it's time for a NEW approach. One that works every time. Yes, I know that's a strong promise, but it's true, and I stand behind it 100% with my Healthy, Happy Guarantee. If you follow the plan 100%, the way it’s suggested, you WILL lose weight, feel better than you ever have, and find relief from the symptoms mentioned above. (Everyone is different -- some get 90% relief some 50%, but if you've been struggling for a while, I'm sure you're saying it beats nothing. I've never met a metabolism I couldn’t fix with my Metabolic System that safely and naturally boosts your metabolism by addressing the underlying issues that have prevented you from losing weight and feeling like yourself again.

Where should you start if I want to lose weight and I have thyroid issues (or suspect I do)?
The Metabolic Lose 1 Pound Per Day System has everything you need to lose weight. And when you add Thyro-Boost this system has everything you need. You can swap out all the over-the-counter drugs like sleep aids and anti-inflammatories that you've been relying on that are slowing metabolism. Start using a more natural approach like this one instead. If you have additional issues like long-term chronic aches and pains, or your aches and pains are more extreme (often associated with low thyroid function), you may want to purchase Recovery Agent and/or Daily Wellness THC-free CBD, and/or Daily Repair Liquid to help ease them while we work to jumpstart thyroid function, which happens quickly on some while others may take longer.
What else should I take if I feel anxious or stressed that won’t impede thyroid function?
If you feel stressed or have thyroid issues, or your body feels like it needs a detox/cleanse, add LynFit Nutrition Thyro-Boost to start for sure. If your depression, hunger, and/or cravings are becoming more difficult to manage, add 5-HTP Lean at night before bed. Many of our customers use our CBD Daily Wellness Gummies to reduce stress because they are portable and easy to adjust the dosage. They offer anxiety relief without falling asleep.
Which protein shake is best for weight loss and will it help my thyroid?
Every shake we make is specifically designed for weight loss and nourishing and protecting thyroid health. The best is the Metabolic Boosting Complete Protein Shake (the original and still our most popular).
What if I have lactose intolerance or hear dairy isn't good for thyroid or weight loss?
You can still enjoy our Metabolic Boosting Complete Protein Shake because what makes our shakes unique and different than all of the rest is our proprietary methods that microfilter the lactose and dairy out of them, while preserving the high levels amino acids and nutrients that work best when it comes to weight loss and your health.
What about the LynFit Nutrition Egg White Protein or Vegan Complete Protein Powder -- are they okay?
Yes! All LynFit products are specifically designed for weight loss, which always includes improving and protecting thyroid health.
Every product we make and sell is designed with your needs in mind. We understand how the metabolism works, what makes it work more efficiently, and what makes it “bonk” or slow it down.
Every ingredient is screened with thyroid health/weight loss in mind, and we don't sell products that won't contribute to a healthier thyroid. We know how very important that is, so you won’t find incomplete proteins (most store-bought vegan protein powders and bars are not complete, making them unhelpful for weight loss) or ready-made protein in cans full of “stuff” you cant pronounce, or loaded with chemicals and fillers to process and preserve them.
We make our products in small batches, without preservatives or fillers, using the ingredients your thyroid needs, so it can do its job keeping you healthy and happy. When your body gets the specific nutrients it needs, your health will improve and you’ll feel happy again, full of vibrant energy the way God intended.
Will I experience low carb flu or detoxification during the weight loss/thyro boost process?
Some people do experience low carb flu, which can make you feel nauseas and sick while your body rids itself of toxins that have built up in the body. Others feel better the first day they start the plan. It all depends on how and what you've been eating, and also how your body burns fat.
This is why I strongly suggest that you drink lots of water and take LynFit Nutrition Raspberry Ketone Cleanse & Restore. It's more than a cleansing supplement; it helps improve your body's digestion and assimilation, so your body uses what you eat more efficiently. Follow the plan as suggested and don't skip any steps (even if you don't think you need to) as each step plays a role, making it easier for you, so you feel good through the process.
If you don't drink enough water, or make sure you go the bathroom daily (at least once) or skip your midday metabolic boosting smoothie or afternoon supplements, you may not feel as good as you could.
Keep in mind that it may take 72 hours for your body to reboot, and if you don't feel so good, it WILL PASS for sure, if you stick to the plan.
Lastly, the more leafy greens you eat, the better your weight loss. A huge salad every day keeps the pounds away. Go green and you'll get leaner!
Do I need Thyro-Boost if my thyroid is okay?
Yes, everyone should take Thyro-Boost even if you don't have or suspect that you have thyroid issues. In today's world of COVID stress, I suggest everyone take Thyro-Boost. It's an all-natural, safe adaptogen that has more benefits that I can list here.
Should I stop taking the collagen powder or gummies I take for my hair, skin, and nails?
Yes, unless you're taking LynFit's Daily Repair Liquid Collagen. Most non-liquid collagens clog up your system even more, causing weight gain or preventing weight loss. Despite what their labels say, they are not a complete protein and aren't the best kind for weight loss. This includes ALL gummies as they don't provide enough of the active ingredients you need to protect health. They also contain too much sugar and fillers that can cause constipation, in addition to bloating and digestive issues.
For the BEST results, we suggest that you STOP taking all other supplements while you're boosting your metabolism and restoring thyroid health.
What if I don't like vegetables?
Focus on the ones you do, and if you're one of the grownups who still doesn't eat any vegetables unless they are fried or starchy, it's time! I didn't used to like vegetables either until I began eating them every day. This plan makes it easy and teaches how to make them, so you do like them. It make take some time and trial and error, but if you're serious about losing weight and staying healthy, you can't skip this step. In time, you too will like what you eat. Your body may require a little tough love, but in the end it's worth it. And no, using a green drink isn't a good replacement, nor is taking a multivitamin every day.
What if I don't like fish?
Just like I mentioned above with veggies, focus on the proteins you do like, and be meticulous about how much you eat, making sure to stick to serving sizes as most of us eat two-three times more chicken than our body needs. If your weight loss is slow, consider skipping the protein at dinner all together. This plan contains adequate protein, so you don't have to worry. You can also try tuna burgers or egg white drop soup for a different, cleaner keto dinner that boosts weight loss.
Can I drink alcohol on the plan?
I suggest refraining until you've lost 20% of your weight to allow blood sugars to become normal again and your liver health is restored. But it's your plan, so adjust as needed to suit your life as long as it doesn't become out of balance (daily drinking). If you cant' abstain, understand that it may slow your weight loss.
How do I know what’s too much overindulging?
The scale never lies. Go slow and listen to your body. You may be surprised that you can't eat as much as you used to and that your taste buds have changed, and the foods you used to love are no longer appealing to you.
YOU CAN DO THIS!
