RECIPE: How Your Coffee May Be Stopping You From Losing Weight

If you're happily addicted to your morning coffee and think that a splash of milk (of any kind) or creamer is no big deal when it comes to your weight gain, you may be surprised to learn how that one little thing puts the brakes on weight loss, blocks fat burning and flips on your weight gain switch.

We Americans get more antioxidants from coffee than from any other food source unless your drinking Daily Power Shot. It's helped reduce the risks of type 2 diabetes, prevent liver disease, alleviate depression, and has even helped control symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and delay the onset of Alzheimer’s. Coffee has been used in the quest to burn body fat for centuries because it works.

There are lots of reasons to kick Red Bull, Bang, Monster Energy, and C4 to the curb, and go back to one of God's gifts to humans instead, especially if you're trying to lose weight. There are more reasons to drink coffee than this blog post has space for, but I’m going to stick to the reasons it's stopping you from losing weight.

First, it's not the coffee that's to blame. Coffee only has eight calories per eight ounce cup (black coffee, of course). So, it's not the coffee I’m talking about; it's what you're adding to it that's the issue. It's the flavored creamers now being sold as light. Making it even worse is the explosion of new seemingly healthy nut, rice, soy, and coconut milk.

For a quick example, most coffee creamers and milk are dairy-free and marketed as healthy, so we freely add them to our coffee, not suspecting anything. Most people don't check the labels to find out that they are in a base of soybean oil and corn syrup, among other metabolic blockers like trans fats, which are linked to metabolic resistance and coronary artery disease. All of these are also linked to inflammation in the body.

What makes it even worse is that small splash or what we think is one serving technically is 1 tbsp. for most creamers and milk, and most of us really use far more than that. Statistics and human behavioral studies report that we use four-times that amount, so when you assume your coffee is only adding a mere 35 additional calories,1.5 grams of fat, and 6 grams of sugar, it's really 140 calories, 6 grams of fat, and 24 grams (that's 6 tsp.) of high glycemic sugar added to your coffee.

If you're a two-cup per day coffee drinker, you will have easily exceeded the maximum allowable amount of sugar intake, which is no more than nine teaspoons for men and six for woman.

That one, single cup of coffee can really be ¼ cup of milk or creamer can add up to 15 extra pounds per year, give or take depending on which you use, your metabolism, and activity level. But if you're short and over 50, like me, even five pounds can make you feel horrible, bloated, and unable to zip your pants.

This doesn't mean you have to give up coffee or everything you love, but in order to make changes we have to make some changes, as simple as they may seem. Each one adds up over time.

Don’t worry, I’ve got a slimmer, more delicious and nutritious way to enjoy your coffee that will actually make it easier for you to lose weight, jumpstart fat burning, and block cortisol (stress hormones) levels from becoming too high. It will also strengthen your teeth and bones, improve hair, skin, and nail health faster and more effectively than biotin ever could. All while providing natural energy and amino acids that boost mood without the energy crash or blood sugar spikes.

A splash of premade metabolic Melt Fat Milk (simply spoon stir 2 tbsp. of Metabolic Boosting Complete Protein Powder with 1 cup of cold water and store the remaining in the refrigerator for use later) or Fat Burning Froth (same as melt fat milk but using less water) are the perfect healthy creamers that taste better, are more filling, and very good for your body.

Not only that, Complete Protein delivers five grams of prebiotic fiber, less carbs that are low glycemic, so they promote weight loss and fat burning. The calcium (124 grams per serving) they contain also helps prevent the calcium-robbing effects of caffeine and prevents blood sugar spikes, followed by crashes that can trigger hunger and cravings.

Complete Protein also delivers 225mg of potassium that helps keep your nerves functioning healthfully, which can be a huge help if you're a several cups a day coffee drinker. Your nerves can easily become affected from excessive caffeine that dehydrates and can cause anxiety and nervous jitters. Potassium can also prevent muscle spasms and keep your heart beat regular and move nutrients into cells and filter out waste products that can slow weight loss toxins that can build up and slow weight loss, zap energy, cause brain fog, and contribute to cellulite formation.

For most coffee enthusiasts, adding milk or creamer is part of the enjoyment of this ritual, so it’s a must do for you. Make your own... you'll reduce trans fats, sugars, and ingredients you can't pronounce.

Here are the most popular, natural, and more metabolic substitutes. You won't even need to keep adding blood sugar spiking, fat burning-blocking agave, honey, maple syrup, or even extracts that can contain liver-clogging alcohol.
